More energy saving measures in Italy to be implemented thanks to the newly-created Energy Network
Energie-Cités is happy to inform about the creation of EnergyNetwork, a network of Italian companies and technicians committed to energy efficiency within their territory. The initiative to establish the network was put forward by the Naples Agency for Energy and Environment (ANEA – Agenzia Napoletana Energia e Ambiente) and Napoletanagas, a local natural gas distributor.
Since the creation of EnergyNetwork, already 94 companies and individual technicians have joined, out of which a large part comes from the City of Naples, an active member of Energie-Cités. Cooperation between our Association and the Italian city dates back to 1999, when the ANEA decided to join other European local actors aiming at sustainable energy policies.
The main idea behind the creation of EnergyNetwork was the need to spread the culture of energy efficiency in Italy, particularly in the Southern part of the country. In order to do so, the network will constantly encourage its members to increase the number of energy saving measures. Thanks to diffusion of good practice among members and the monitoring mechanism, particular companies and technicians are able to share their achievements and get inspired from the example of others.
Being part of the network brings about many other benefits, such as free participation in seminars and special meetings with industry experts and institutions involved in the process of granting prospective clients. Members can also take advantage of discounts for training courses organised by the ANEA and participate in meetings with financial institutions to acquire knowledge about how to get access to credit for energy savings measures.
The issue of great importance for network’s members is a support provided by the ANEA in the process of according energy efficiency certificates, also known as white certificates. A sufficient number of energy saving measures is a prerequisite for obtaining a certificate, which in turn allows the economic livelihood of particular endeavours.
Membership also covers the provision of service and technical assistance on tax issues related to the implementation of energy saving measures. An agreement with Naples FIAP (Italian Federation of Professional Estate Agents) has enabled the personal income tax deductions as high as 55%.
With no doubt, such a support will even further promote the intervention aimed at reducing the energy consumption. Since the objectives set in this field are ambitious, it seems that only cooperation mechanism involving many actors will make them easier to realize. The EnergyNetwork is a great example of such a mechanism and its replication in other countries would be more than desirable.
