EUSEW - La semaine européenne de l’énergie (22 - 26 March 2010)
The EU Sustainable Energy Week is the reference event for sustainable issues in Europe. It forms part of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign which is an initiative of the European Commission launched in 2005.
The Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign contributes to achieving the European Union’s energy policy targets within the fields of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, clean transport and alternative fuels.
EUSEW is organised by the Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI) on behalf of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy and Transport.

Recast to reality - public authorities leading the way to more energy efficient buildings
A conference on energy efficient buildings will be organised as part of the EUSEW, EU Sustainable Energy Week 2010. The event is organised by Energy DG’s Energy Efficiency department and is targeted towards energy efficiency experts, policy makers and implementers, regional and local authorities, researchers, as well as representatives from industry and civil society.
Two major issues will be tackled at this event:
- How to ensure the smooth implementation of the new recasted Directive?
- How can public buildings show good practice?

ManagEnergy Annual Conference 2010 : "Delivering Sustainable Energy Commitments" Public Authorities and Energy Agencies working with local and regional communities
This event, which is free of charge, will highlight opportunities for local and regional authorities and energy agencies to obtain funding for the implementation of their sustainable energy action plans, including partnerships with key stakeholders and financing for investments in energy efficiency and energy infra-structure.
To this end, the programme for the conference features a rich selection of case studies where cities, banks and utilities have successfully joined forces with local energy actors to produce worthwhile initiatives and this event will also be an excellent opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with others striving to stimulate efficient and sustainable energy use at the local level.
The latest EU policies, initiatives and programmes on sustainable energy at local and regional levels will be presented by representatives from the European Commission and the EACI.
Commissioner Oettinger is expected to close the conference with a speech and presentation of the ManagEnergy Award.

ICT21-EE - ICT, a way to enhance Energy Efficiency
This special workshop will be dedicated to the 3 main ICT21-EE working fields which are:
* ICT for Energy Efficiency in buildings
* ICT for Energy Efficiency in transports
* ICT as a catalyst of change in user behaviour
This workshop will be the opportunity to discuss main challenges of these fields presenting state of the art running projects/case studies/practices in order to deepen reflexion on how ICT could contribute and develop energy efficiency.
The event will last for 3 hours and will have a maximum of 40 places available.

Central and Eastern European local authorities are acting to take up new challenges and opportunities
This event, organised by Energie Cités, aims at discussing the most critical problems local authorities of new member states are facing as well as succesful initiatives and solutions in implementing the EU objectives. The goal is to accelerate the rythm of action in these countries, incl. the signatures of the Covenant of Mayors. Networking activities will be promoted. Local authorities and partners involved in the MODEL project will serve as a basis for discussion.
Furthermore the 2nd ’’MODEL award’’ will be handed over at this occasion thus promoting the most significant achievements of the MODEL pilot cities, bring a wide and international recognition to the winning city and at the same time enhance all NMS local authorities to go ahead and implement innovative initiatives in the field of sustainable energy.
This thematic workshop is an event of the EUSEW 2010.

Promoting innovative cogeneration in cities - Examples from Berlin and other pilot cities
COGEN Europe, the European association for the promotion of cogeneration, and the Berlin Energy Agency (BEA) organise a seminar which will focus on best practice examples of cogeneration in urban areas and ways to promote these successful approaches among other cities in Europe.
Peter Schilken from Energie - Cités will make a speech at the panel debate.
The half-day seminar is an official event of the 2010 EU Sustainable Energy Week.
